Say Word

Intent v. Impact
Speak freely
What's in your heart
But beware
What lives on your tongue

His words, her words
Their words, some words
Are not meant to do harm
But slick words, sly words
Your words, my words
Can make another's
Heart go numb
And blood run cold

Remember
The heart walks with caution
But the tongue
The tongue can be shamelessly bold

Strong relative to size
But has no self-restraint
We can lock it in prison
But forget we shouldn't
Always say what we think

So speak freely
What's in your heart
But beware
What lives on your tongue
What is seen as harmless to you
May be heartbreaking for some
